Why am I posting pictures of Chocolate Buttons, I hear you ask?
Well, this is just a snippet from our entry for Cakebook Britain, 2012.
A GIANT, edible map, covered in cake replicas of famous British landmarks.
Sadly, we didn’t win.
Our entry was still brilliant, though, we thought! It was huge – 1 metre by 54 cm, based around a hollow centre. We baked 16 large cakes, of varying flavours, to build the cake up with. We coloured 1.5 kg of fondant/sugarpaste icing, sprayed 1,650 chocolate buttons and needed 1kg of buttercream icing!
Here we are, beginning to carve.
Over the next week, I’ll be posting a kind of ‘step-by-step’ journal of the whole process…. keep a look out!

Wow. Love the giant cake.
Thanks!
